We've been making cheese since spring 2014. Each year we enter a selection of our range of cheeses into the NZ Speciality Cheese Association's cheese competition. And each year we've had results that we are proud of.
Our 2016 medal colour at the cheese awards was silver, silver, silver for the Garlic Halloumi, Feta and Coppermine plus another silver for a Camembert we make on behalf of Aran Farm.
Spring of 2016 was a rewarding time on the competition front:
In 2018 we entered an informal 'washed-rind' cheese challenge. The cheese had to be washed in beer. We had great pleasure using Brew Union's Golden Ale on our goat's cheese 'Doe Rei Mi' and even more pleasure in winning the challenge.
In 2019 we scooped up 3 gold medals for our soft cheeses and silver medals for our blue cheeses.
In 2020 we only entered one cheese in the NZ cheese awards because life was a bit crazy at the beginning of the year, but we got a bronze for it and we'll celebrate that; our semi-hard cheese called Smokey Stewart has it's first medal and hopefully not it's last.
